I spent many years in the corporate world as a workaholic before realizing my desire for a creative outlet to balance my life. While living in Chicago, I had the good fortune of studying improv at Second City’s Player’s Workshop, the Meisner acting technique at the Actors Center and Del Close’s longform improv style, the Harold, from Jay Leggitt of ImprovOlympic. I was hooked on storytelling and went on to perform in many improv troupes in Chicago, Santa Fe and Sedona.
Benefiting from the transformative effects this art form had on me, both personally and professionally, I created “playshops”, which naturally transfer the positive life skills acquired via improv theatre games into the game of life. For over 20 years I have been on the road training others how to “lighten up” with my business “The Portable Playground”.
Now, I need to express through writing some of the souls I've had the honor to observe and talk to in my travels. Hope you enjoy!
